Sales: clearly thinking through process

Sales is about thinking, not just about selling. It begins with understanding where the sales process starts. And if you haven’t figured it out by now, the sales process starts with you.
- What are you doing right now?
- What results are you getting?
These are two really important questions in business, yet I am surprised at little these two questions are asked in business. Are we afraid of the answers we will get? That if you had to honestly answer this question you will find you are not on track to meeting any of your goals?
Clearly thinking through your selling process will generate results. Why? Because it means having to get rid of the clutter and busyness we can hide behind therefore not face the fact that things aren’t going as well as we would like them to go.
There is nothing like getting to the end of the day and asking yourself: what if I lived today all wrong? Big question – yes and one that can have painful memories associated with it. But unless we start asking ourselves the questions that will create clear focus we will keep going round and round in circles and never achieving our end result.
Practice getting quiet, where you let go of your agendas, excuses, to do list etc so that you can be in a place to honestly evaluate and think through your day, your goals, your skills, your experience, your product and presentation. You will find this simple practice will yield huge results not only in your selling ability but in your life as a whole too.
What if you lived today all wrong?
- What if you were better prepared at that loosing sale?
- What if you were more patient with that dithering decision and long term relationship instead of forcing a ‘no’?
